HISTORY

The Band was originally formed in 1891 and was traditionally linked to coal mining industry of the Gwendraeth Valley. The Band has been well supported throughout, depsite some periods of difficulty with membership due to varying reasons.

During the 1990's the band was struggling with membership and was non-competing whilst just playing at carnivals and at christmas festivities. It was on Boxing Day 1999 that it was decided the band would reform and compete at the forthcoming National Eisteddfod at Llanelli in 2000. From here on the band has developed and gone from strength to strength.

2010 was an excellent year for the band. We gained the title of Welsh Regional Champions of the 4th Section along with West Wales Champions in the 3rd Section. We also won the 4th Section title at the National Eisteddfod in Bala. As a result of our achievement we were promoted to the 3rd nationally, and in 2012 gained further promotion to the 2nd Section. Since this promotion, the band has developed and progressed under various Muscial Directors.
